lectures

why do we never talk about our projects in lectures? isnt that what they are supposed to be for? just a little annoying that we don't ever talk about them and we listen to someone talking for an hour and a half and then go and sit in symposium and do the same thing. sometimes they are interesting but i feel like i would benefit more if we talked about our projects and what was expected from us for the next class.

anyway i have made a decision on what i want my tree house to look like. it will be a rounded hexahedron (6 sides) covered with retractable feathers that reveal a wood and glass structure underneath. Pretty excited about it. i really like it but building a model might be a little difficult with the rounded shape. oh well, i like a challenge.

drawing tree houses

okay so i have good ideas for a design of a tree house, but i cant draw it and make it look right. it never looks like it follows the laws of simple physics! ahhhh i've got the tree drawing down but need help with the rest. and because i'm having problems drawing what ideas are in my mind, i am forgetting them! yikes, i'm having issues

tree house

I'm pretty excited for this tree house project. It sounds like it will be fun...unlike wayfinding.
The tree I chose was a super curvy one with the branches curving over the top and creating a nice space in the middle. It is right next to Potter Lake with many other trees around it.
I think the personas I want to use are a group of people who might not normally be friends (the prep greek kid, the jock, the artist, the chemist, etc), but through all of them needing an escape (from homework, friends, relationships, work, etc.) like how we did when we were kids, they find out that their problems aren't so different after all. They all have stress and would like an escape place to vent about what's going on in their lives. Potter Lake is a great place for students to go and just relax, especially on such a nice day like today. So it is very likely that these people would be there to try to get away form their issues, therefore meeting each other and finding this great treehouse to spend their time, while getting to know people from other social groups.

I couldn't find my blog for the longest time. I forgot which email I used to set it up.

back to BDS with new projects and a new teacher. should be fun. this first project was a little difficult to wrap my head around. but we're getting there. we video taped people trying to go thru our process and it worked out pretty well. now we are re-testing. YAY.

eliminate

our group got together friday morning (in the rain) to finish our letters and take the photos. first we went down to our spot but it was raining so we had to find somewhere else to go inside. we put them on the stairs with them "falling" down but the white letters were hard to see agains the cream wall so we moved to the black lockers and stood them up in front of the lockers with the "e" hanging out of the locker. then we went back to the outside place and the rain stopped! so we took the pictures that we originally wanted to take. then as soon as we were done it started raining again. talk about perfect timing with mother nature.

i still cant put my pictures up. HELP! i saved them in photoshop as jpg and it still wont work

i'm very glad to be moved on to a new project. i'm liking this one way more than the last project. it's fun to manipulate things on illustrator and see what you can come up with. but once again im having trouble coming up with ideas when i have been working for a while but i think im getting better at it.

my group's word is eliminate which is going to cost us a lot of money to make since its a long word but that gives us more possibilities to work with. i thought that we could put the letters on a cross walk on campus and then have the 'e' off the cross walk about to be run over by a car or bus. i though that was pretty funny but im not so sure how we could do that on campus during a busy day without all our letters getting run over. it will have to be a fast action shot.

p.s. not looking forward to it getting cold outside especially when we have class at 830 and its way colder out then than in the middle of the day. boo.
